Betty Boop (Sister) |
Bubby Boop is Betty Boop's little brother who only appears in the Betty Boop comic strip[1] alongside his Aunt Tillie. "Aw! Why don't you behave?" is what he says when he is scolded for getting up to mischief.
Aunt Tillie is primarily responsible for his care, he often makes fun of her weight, and once referred to her as an elephant. Bubby Boop is not to be confused with Billy Boop, Betty's other baby brother who made appearances in the animated Talkartoons' series and alternative comic strips.
Bubby resembles Billy's original design more in his debut, but with a completely different hairdo. As the comic developed, Bubby's appearance altered.
In one of the earlier comic strips before Bubby was introduced, Betty Boop can be seen adopting several children known as the Quintet Kiddies, the characters had the same exact character design as Bubby.
Bubby appears with Betty in the 1976 "Pretty-Puzzle"[2] set by Nintendo.
In 1977, he served as mascot for Ajinomoto Mayonnaise, as mayo is very popular in Japan.[3]
