 The Herring Murder Case (1931)

The Herring is murdered, and it's up to detective Bimbo to find the murderer.


  • Herring: "Oh... They shot me..."
  • Herring: "Is this the end of the Herring?"
  • Koko the Clown: "The poor...H...H...Herring shot?"
  • Koko the Clown: "C'mon help!"
  • Koko the Clown: "I...g...g...gotta get Bimbo the detective."
  • Herring's Wife: "Oh... my poor Rudy!"
  • Herring's Wife: "He'll find him."
  • Bimbo: "Here he comes!"
  • Gus Gorilla: "Whoops my dear!"


Cast & Crew




  • Was released on the 26th of June in 1931.
  • The Herring's wife sings a Betty Boop-ish song. For some unknown reason there is no Betty Boop protoype. 
  • Bimbo plays the role of a detective, a role in which he would return to several years later in Betty Boop's Hollywood Mystery.
  • The start of the cartoon uses part of the theme song from Mysterious Mose.
  • This is Billy Burray's final appearance as Bimbo.
  • Bimbo has very little dialogue.
