There'll be no more Betty Boop-Boop-a-Dooping from the screen. Betty, who attained a lot of popularity about eight years ago, and retained much of it up to the last year, will be missing from the short film field next season.
Only a few years back Helen Kane, who called herself the original Booper, tried to get a state supreme court hot and bothered about it. She sued somebody else for infringements. She got exactly nowhere.
And now Betty is fading, too. To replace Betty, a new character Sally Swing, has been created. She's described as a "modernized", streamlined version of her predecessor."
There's something to be said in favor of the non-streamliners.
